After a couple of big wins, the Ponoka Bantam Broncs football team is finishing off their regular season with a home game on Oct. 15.

The Broncs will kick off against Rocky Mountain House at 10 a.m..

“We’re hoping to make it our biggest spectacle yet with entry smoke, fireworks, our announcer, music, mascot, and more,” said head coach Todd Lewis.

On Oct. 1, the Broncs improved to 3-0, defeating the Lloydminster Chargers in a one-sided 70-0 victory.

It was a closer, hard-fought battle on Sept. 17 on the road against Stettler.

Stettler was the strongest opponents the Broncs had faced this season, but they “hit the ground running,” said Lewis.

After a good kick return, the Broncs drove the field in three plays, scoring almost immediately.

While the Broncs’ offence was explosive and effective, their consistency struggled., Lewis said, and key dropped passes limited scoring and slowed momentum.

“It was a good challenge and learning opportunity for what comes ahead.”

The defence was aggressive and tenacious, forcing seven turnovers and only giving up eight points on a missed contain, making the final score 32-8 for the Broncs.
