The basketball season has come to an end but the preparation for the upcoming season is well underway. Ponoka Composite High School is working to make sure their aspiring stars are staying game ready. The school will hold a summer basketball camp from July 7 to 11 hosted by senior basketball coaches Blaine Haines and Sheldon Ronnie. The girls will sharpen their skills from 9 to 11 a.m. and the boys will follow from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

“It encourages kids to develop their individual skills ... enabling them to have greater success come November and their respective teams,” said Haines.

He says that the camp is focused on individual fundamentals while having fun. They will work on shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, 1-on-1, and 3-on-3 games.

Currently they have 10 girls and six boys registered. There goal is to have 16 to 20 in each section. If they don’t achieve those numbers they will combine the camp into a girls and boys camp.
