Lacoka Locos update

The Lacoka Locos peewee Vold, Jones and Jones Auction team are on a four game winning streak in league action with a record of nine wins and two losses. The team is looking for their fifth straight win as they finish the season in Lacombe on June 14 at 12 p.m. against Drumheller.

The Lacoka Locos Albatross Oilfield Services tyke team hustled for the ball as they hosted the Red Deer Chiefs on June 7 at the Ponoka Recreation and Culture Complex.

The Lacoka Locos peewee Vold, Jones and Jones Auction team are on a four game winning streak in league action with a record of nine wins and two losses. The team is looking for their fifth straight win as they finish the season in Lacombe on June 14 at 12 p.m. against Drumheller.

On June 7, the peewee Lacos defeated Red Deer Carwells 11-6. On June 2 they easily won over Innisfail 7-1. On May 31 they beat Olds 9-2.

Team manager Naomi Bennett is very excited with the winning streak.

“They are doing great, lots of passes and great team effort,” said Bennett.

On May 28 they faced the Hobbema Maskwacis All-Star team, a game that Bennett says was a tough game as both teams wanted to win. However, the Lacos came out on top 6-4.

At the Tradition Lives Tournament May 17 to 19 the Locos did very well winning bronze. In the first game the Locos faced the Red Deer Red Flame losing 8-4, game two Locos 8 and Rockyview Range 5, game three Locos 9 and Innisfail Phantoms 3. In the bronze medal game the Locos defeated the Red Flame 9-0. Dustin Bell lead the scoring with 11 goals, Wyatt Bennett, RheTT Ritter and Andrew McLennan each had six goals and Brice MacKenzie had one goal.

“The kids did awesome with lots of passing and lot’s of assists,” said Bennett.

Midgets

The Lacoka Locos Cedar Craig midget team also wrap up their season on June 14 at 1 p.m. in Lacombe against Drumheller.

On June 7, the Locos Cedar Craig midgets lost to the Red Deer Chiefs 7-2, both Locos goals by Hayden Engert. The Locos midgets fell to Innisfail 8-4 on June 2, scoring for the Locos was provided by Kyle Nielsen, Dustin Anderson, Reid Swier and Taylor Wass. The Locos midgets had a huge win on May 31 defeating Olds 10-1. Swier had three goals, Cody Hughes had two goals and singles went to Engert, Matt Kentz, Neilsen, Bryce Moldenhauer and Mason Hemmingway.

On May 24 the Locos lost to the Kneehill Bulldogs 5-2. Goals for the Locos were by Skyler Sargeant and Cody Hughes. The team was leading after two periods but got into penalty trouble in the third period. The Locos midgets were also in the Tradition Lives tournament and finished with a record of 1-2.
