Lacoka peewees ready to host provincials

The Lacoka peewee female hockey team is proud to host the 2017 Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships for the peewee B females.

The tournament starts on March 23 and continues to March 26 and all games will be played at the Ponoka Culture and Recreation Complex.

Eight teams will be participating at the Provincial Championships, including the host Lacoka peewee female hockey team. Girls from Ponoka, Lacombe, Blackfalds and Maskwacis are within this group of hardworking players. The teams will be vying for a spot in the gold medal final on Sunday, and a chance to win the provincial crown.

Pool play begins on March 23 at 11:30 a.m. and continues until Saturday. Opening Ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. on the Friday night. Come out and welcome all these teams to our great community. The top four teams qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m. Gold medal final game will take place at 4 p.m.

The host Lacoka peewee females play the following schedule of round-robin games:

- Thursday at 7 p.m. vs Zone 8 (City of Edmonton)

- Friday at 1 p.m. vs Zone 2 (Lakeland)

- Saturday at 5:30 p.m. vs Zone 7 (Stettler)

Local fans are encouraged to come out and see some of the best 10 to 13 year old female players in the province competing at the Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships.
