Ponoka players help junior B team win league:

Jordan Wombold (right) and Matthew Klimec recently wrapped up their season with the Wetaskiwin Icemen of the Capital Junior Hockey League. The team finished the season with a 25-8-0-5 record and, for the first time in the 25 year history of the Icemen, won the CJHL championship, losing only one game through four playoff rounds. They also returned from the Alberta Provincial Hockey Championships in Bonnyville on April 2 with a bronze medal. Klimec and Wombold both received school scholarships and Wombold was awarded the Jerry Green Memorial Trophy, being recognized as the “hardest working” Iceman. Both players played all of their minor hockey in Ponoka. Congratulations and thanks for making Ponoka proud.
