Ponoka youth bowlers from Ponoka took a trip to Calgary and competed in the Youth Provincial Championships March 5.

The athletes, made up of various teams walked away with medals from the event. The bantam boys, Justin Fleck and Jace Bowie, coached by Kelly Budd, managed silver medals for their team.

The senior boys is a composite team made up of four players with one from Ponoka. Layne Groot worked with his Camrose teammates to manage bronze. Ponoka resident and coach Rob Taylor guided the players through the challenge. Also in the senior boys team are Dakota Gillis, Timothy Gunther and Dylan Pizzey.

Matthew DelaCruz competed in the Junior Boys singles category and placed fifth in the province but was unable to bring home a medal.
