Ponoka First Shift program sold out

The Ponoka Minor Hockey Association is hosting a NHL/NHLPA First Shift program, which introduces new-to-hockey families at a low cost.

The Ponoka program was sold out. The welcome event was held on Feb. 8 at the Stagecoach Saloon where players came to receive their equipment.

Colin Fraser, Stanley Cup champ and Edmonton Oilers alum attended the event.

The Ponoka players will hit the ice starting on Feb. 16, at 6:15 p.m. on the large ice. The program will continue at the same time and place for the full six weeks.

The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and NHL have joined forces with Bauer Hockey, Inc. and Hockey Canada to strengthen the First Shift Hockey program.
