Robert Greene - Publicity Chairman
The year has flown by again and has been very busy with all our programs we do every year.
We have one more event to do this year and that is Horn Measuring on Dec. 2nd. at the Fish and Game clubhouse. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members and non-members are welcome.
Bring your horns and get them measured and let us see who has bragging rights for 2018.
Here is a little review of some of the things that the government has changed over the last couple of years:
Our Firearms program was changed in 2016 from the original overhead transparency method to the newer power point method. Also an instructor is permitted to have a registered proctor to assist in the program. The new program is easier to teach and also for the students to understand. Through the efforts of the firearms instructors, it was estimated 40,000 students were taught this past year.
Just a reminder to everyone who wants to hunt, not only do you have to have a firearms license but first time hunters must have the Hunter’s Education course before you can get your first hunting license.
There is a program called Becoming An Outdoor Woman for any woman who would like to learn about archery, firearms, canoeing, outdoor survival, fishing, wilderness cuisine, field dressing your animal and lots of other outdoor events that you can sign up for. They teach you to shoot also, then you will understand why we like our guns. Just email - info@aheia.com - or call 403-352-8474 or ask any Fish and Game member to find out how you can go about it.
The weather was not very good this year at our Rifleman’s Rodeo but it did not deter the shooters from their goal of trying to have the best score of the rodeo. The prizes and food for the wind-up supper were very good. Everyone was a winner.
Our greatly appreciated sponsors will always be winners in our book.
The nominations for the 2019 club executives starts at the Dec. 6 meeting. If you are interested in becoming a club executive, let it be known and let your name stand. The election will be at the general meeting in February 2019.
Hunting season is upon us and we wish every hunter good luck. So far the game is winning but we are still looking for them. They seem to get faster every year or maybe we are getting slower.
Don’t forget to bring your horns for measuring on Dec. 2nd. See you there.
Yours in conservation
