Here it is again, our fall classic event, our Rifleman’s Rodeo coming up Labor Day weekend as that is the date we have it every year.
This is your opportunity to come out and get practiced up for the coming hunting season. This gives everyone a chance to visit with old friends and make some new ones also. Always fun to enjoy the shooting and of course don’t forget the pig roast which is always great.
The archery shooting had a good summer with lots of shooters coming out every week, they are now getting in the hunting mode for the season. Good hunting.
The kids camp was very good and they learned much about the outdoors. The weather was great for camp as it was hot and dry.
Good the hail storm did not come through until later as it did lots of damage where it did pass through. I have seen several bunches of Hungarian partridges around this summer, looks like they had a good hatch, most pairs that I saw had 10 to 15 little ones, the dry weather helps the survival rate for the babies in the spring. They need big broods as there are lots of predators out there.
Foxes, hawks, coyotes, cats, and many others. At our last meeting our membership was at 640 people and still growing. The poster for the Rifle Man’s Rodeo will be posted around by the time you read this letter in case you miss it in the news paper.
One handy thing about the weather being dry, I have not put much wear and tear on my grass mowing equipment this summer. See you soon, come on out and have some fun.
Yours in conservation,
R. Greene
