The skating season in Ponoka has now come to a close.

Public skating and shinny hockey on the indoor ice surfaces of the Ponoka Arena Complex had been extended, but ended on March 26, and all outdoor skating facilities are closed due to the warming temperatures.

With spring temperatures melting snow and ice throughout the community, the Outdoor Skating Rink (ODR) is now closed for the season.

The ice skating trail at Lions Centennial Park is also no longer suitable for users and will no longer be maintained this season.

The indoor ice will be removed at the end of March in preparation for the annual Ponoka Trade Show which is scheduled for April 14 and 15.

The removal of the ice will also make way for lacrosse and drop-in spring programming, which will get underway next month. More details about the drop-in programming will be announced soon.
