Ponoka Stampeders playoff results

The Ponoka Junior B Stampeders have reached the playoffs and have recently had two losses. On Feb. 17 the Stampeders faced off against the Blackfalds Ford Wranglers in Blackfalds which resulted in a loss for Ponoka 16-2.

The first period did not start out well for the Stampeders with the Wranglers whipping in three goals in a row at the start of the game.

Ponoka Stampeders’ Kyle Kinley shot in the puck at 9:03 assisted by Rodney Raugust. The Wranglers managed to score two more times before the end of the first period.

The second period started out the same way with the Wrangles shooting the first three goals followed by a goal from Ponoka Stampeder Joseph Potts with help from Rodney Raugust.

The third period saw no goals for the Stampeders and the Blackfalds Ford Wranglers were able to get in eight goals before the end of the game for a win 16-2.

The Ponoka Junior B Stampeders played the Blackfalds Ford Wranglers again on Feb. 18 at the Ponoka Culture and Recreation Complex which resulted in a loss for the Ponoka team 11-2.

The Wranglers set the pace of the game by putting in the first two goals. Chad McDougall was able to shoot in a goal for the Stampeders from a penalty shot at 19:55, ending the first period.

The second period began with a goal from the Wranglers followed by one from the Stampeders made by Travis Kirchner assisted by Rodney Raugust and Matthew Wolfe.

The Wranglers closed the second period with two more goals.

There were no goals made by the Stampeders in the third period and the Wranglers ended the game with six goals. The Wranglers took the game 11-2.
