Ponoka Synchronized Skating teams win medals at competition

The annual Rose Bowl Synchronized Skating Competition was held at the Max Bell Arena in Calgary on Jan. 11. The three synchronized skating teams from the Ponoka Skating Club competed with teams from as far away as Manitoba, and came home with three medals!

The Ponoka Pre-Juvenile Ice Sensations team won bronze – congratulations goes out to Allison Niven, Ashlyn Mackey, Bailey Rush, Ceanna Feldberg, Clara McDowell, Dominique Morel, Emily Parker, Gracyn Bonnett, Kalaya McAuley, Kate Parker, Katelynn Korchinski, Kennedy Hackett, Megan Bolton, Morgan Blanchard and coach Donna Horlock.

The Ponoka Juvenile Ice Sensations team won bronze – congratulation goes out to Caitlin Kreil, Ceanna Feldberg, Ceanna Prediger, Ceyana Archibald, Courtney Smith, Emily Jacobs, Emily Massing, Gracyn Bonnett, Jessica Feldberg, Kate Parker, Kristin Prediger, Kyla Waknuk, Lauren Bussiere, Lindsey Weir, Makena Grant, Shayla Feldberg and coach Kathleen Moore.

The Ponoka Pre-Novice Ice Sensations team won gold – congratulation goes out to Brandi-Lynn McClaflin, Brittney Feldberg, Brittney Matejka, Carling Matejka, Chantal Craig, Hayley Weir, Jamie Tangjerd, Jessica Sperber, Nicole Nieuwland, Paige Bonnett, Presley Waknuk, Rachel Rarick, Samantha Sperber, Shayla Feldberg, Shelby Simanton, Tanis Stevens and coach Kathleen Moore.

Two of the Ponoka teams have other competitions in February, including the Pre-Novice team traveling to Anaheim, California for the “Anaheim Ice” competition February 13-15; and both the Juvenile and Pre-Novice teams competing in the Provincial Synchronized Skating Competition in Lloydminster on Feb. 21.

The season then winds down in March with performances at the Rimbey and Blackfalds carnivals. All 3 teams will wrap up the skating year at the Annual Ponoka Skating Club Carnival on March 14.
