Ponoka youth invited to offer feedback on skate park design

Pop-up youth engagement session at Hamilton’s Skate Park July 5

The Town of Ponoka is calling on all youth in the community to come and provide feedback on the new expanded skate park design.

A pop-up booth will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 5, at Hamilton’s Skate Park (weather permitting).

“Youth will be invited to share their thoughts and ideas on a new proposed design for an expanded skate park,” stated a press release.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a free freezie and have a chance to win some town swag.

The Town of Ponoka is currently in the second round of public consultation on the expanded skate park design. Public consultation will close on July 31.

The current conceptual design for an expanded skate park could see the existing Hamilton Skate Park extended south to include the space currently occupied by the former Town of Ponoka recycling yard.

The sidewalk in front of the Hamilton Skate Park would also be extended south to connect with the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Battle River and connects with the river valley trail system.

Construction of the expanded skate park will depend on future consideration and approval of the park design, location and budget by Ponoka town council.

Youth and local citizens of all ages can also offer their input on the expanded skate park design on the town’s online engagement platform at www.LetsTalkPonoka.ca.

Paper copies are also available on the second floor of the Ponoka Civic Centre (200, 5604 50 St.).
