Sherrer, Broderson hold slim leads in Ponoka Super League curling

The final two teams have fallen from the ranks of the unbeaten in the Agro Ponoka/Ponoka Ford Super Curling League.

Of the six games played Nov. 17, five were won by significant margins, while the sixth game was a much closer contest.

The results have tightened up the standings considerably.

The league, which uses a skins format with $80 available in each game saw the 12 competing rinks back on the ice for the third draw Nov. 17.

In Pool A action, Steve Pederson knocked off previously unbeaten Martin Sherrer by taking $44, G & T Custom Farming came away with a substantial win over its competition by taking $70 from Ponoka Ford, and the Lionel Baron foursome took $52 from Agro Ponoka.

Pool B saw a couple of lopsided games. The Kevin Broderson rink nearly swept the Dwight Dufva foursome, taking $72 of the $80 up for grabs. John Olson handily defeated the previously unbeaten Stan Baliant team by taking $66, and the Clayton Morrow foursome picked up $58 in its win over Holly Riske.

Pool A standings after three weeks: Sherrer (2-1) sits with $158, G & T Custom Farming (2-1) has $150, Agro Ponoka (1-2) sits with $124, Baron (2-1) has $116, Pederson (2-1) has $108 and Ponoka Ford (0-3) has $64.
