The skating trail that winds through Lions Centennial Park will open to skaters tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 23.

Citizens will once again be able to skate under the glitter of the thousands of festive lights on display at Lions Centennial Park. The display will continue to light up the park and run until the end of February.

The skating trail can be accessed from the north-end gazebo at Centennial Park. Park benches and rubber mats have been installed to provide citizens with a place to lace up and take off their skates.

The skating trail was built by the Ponoka County East District Fire Department in conjunction with the Town of Ponoka Operations crews.

Throughout the winter, the fire department will continue flooding the ice surface and town crews will clear snow along the trail as needed.

The town reminds residents that the ice trail is for public skating only. Hockey is not permitted.
