Spring boat show

The 2011 Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show begins March 17 and runs through to March 20. The show takes place at the Expo Centre at Northlands.

Alberta summers are short at best, so making the most of them is paramount. If the great outdoors is your playground then you won’t want to miss out on this year’s Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show. This is your first opportunity of the season to feast your eyes on the newest marine products, watercraft, hunting, camping and fishing gear.

For the fly fishermen be sure to take in the casting demos and then try your hand in the “Focus on Fly Fishing” area of the show, sponsored by Northwest Territories Tourism. The premiere of “The Fly Fishing Film Tour” is being held at this year’s Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show.

There is plenty to take in at the year’s Show including a meet and greet opportunity with OLN’s Terry Grant. The star of “Mantracker” will be onsite March 18 and the stars of History Channel’s “Ice Pilots NWT,” will be on hand on Saturday and Sunday.”

Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association will have numerous displays with hunting and fishing simulators as well as educational exhibits for every member of the family..

The show features countless organizations that promote protection, preservation and conservation, and one of these is Alberta Birds of Prey from Coaldale Alberta. Founder Colin Weir will be on hand with a variety of species in order to educate and create awareness of many of these birds’ plights.

The crown jewels of any boat and sportsmen’s show are the boats. Check out the wide selection of boats of all makes, models, sizes and shapes.
