After a competitive weekend and a gruelling semifinals match, the St. Augustine Queens walked away with a bronze medal for the second year in a row at the CASAA girls volleyball tournament Nov. 21.

“This is a big step for us since we’ve only had high school team for three years,” said coach Darren Josephison. “We lost in the semifinals against Bawlf, but it was probably the best match of the tournament.”

Bawlf defeated St. Augustine 25-16, 18-25 and 15-13. Bawlf then advanced to the finals and beat Sedgewick 25-12 and 25-23, becoming the Central Zone representative at provincials in Rocky Mountain House Nov. 26 to 28.

The Queens defeated David Thompson to earn a bronze.
