The Ponoka Warriors volleyball team finished fourth out of 10 teams at the U14 girls tournament held at St. Augustine School on April 18 and 19.

The Warriors played well all weekend and lost two close playoff matches against the FOG Hawks and the FOG Frenzy, both are teams from Edmonton and the Hawks were victorious winning the tournament for the third year in a row.

Warrior coach Darren Josephison was pleased with the efforts of the team and the energy that continued throughout the weekend.

“We did really well, we were quite good,” Josephison said. “We lost a close semi-final match and could have easily been in the finals. We play well the whole tournament.”

The Warriors are set to play in the Alberta Volleyball Provincials for a chance to win a medal.

The Warriors will be preparing for the tournament and will be focusing on some key points in their game to work on for provincials.

“We have to work on our team defense and our serve reception,” said Josephison. “The better teams we play the easier it is to work with.”

The Warriors will be playing in Alberta Volleyball Provincials in Edmonton on April 26 and 27.
