Two incidents occurred in Hobbema within five days of each other. Two people were killed and police are still investigating.

The news of Ponoka’s curfew bylaw has reached the East Coast of Canada. Randy Larcombe, host of CBC Radio’s Central Newfoundland Morning Show, recently phoned up chief administrative officer for Ponoka, Brad Watson, for an interview for his show. Watson says that the conversation with Larcombe went well and he was pleased with the interview.

Environmental damage can prove to be disastrous and the province is taking a step to ensuring that communities have the necessary equipment to deal with those emergencies. Through a program created by the Alberta Environment Support and Emergency Response Team (ASERT), Ponoka has been one of the six chosen communities in the province to receive a spill response equipment trailer.
